DESCRIPTION: The use of high wheel vehicles (“storm trucks”) is a popular option for flood rescues and evacuations.  This program will review some of the unique hazards of urban floodwater rescue operations as defined in NFPA 1006 Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications - Chapter 23, and how high wheel vehicles fit into these operations.  Size-up, safety concerns, safe operation of vehicles, protective equipment, and strategy and tactics for the use of these vehicles are among the topics to be discussed.
