Description: Firefighters in their work are sometimes tasked with metering and interpreting whether true atmospheric hazards exist in their working environment.  This is mostly the case withodor investigations, CO calls, Confined Space, Collapse and Trench Rescues.  Too often these rescuers are only familiar with a gas meter on it s most basic level.  Knowing it is just a tool that gives clues and not a tool that gives 100% answers can be misunderstood.  Discussions will include the most common sensors, gasses that can fool them and the lessons learned by the Phoenix Fire Department on their first encounter with a restaurant CO2 leak. This session is geared toward the Hazmat Operations Level firefighter or rescuer who might be told "Here, hold this meter."
