Prerequisites: Water Rescue Awareness and Rope Rescue Awareness, or proof of equivalent training acceptable to lead instructor. Hunterdon County Agencies Only

Description: This course presents an intensive "hands-on" training to emergency personnel who are expected to operate at a swift water emergency. The class will cover hazard identification, self-rescue and low–risk options for rescuing others from surface water emergencies involving still or swift water situations. There will be an evening lecture session with extensive "hands-on" practical operations in moving water situations. Topics include river and rescue terminology, basic rescue theory and equipment, drowning, hypothermia, self-rescue, and basic rope handling skills. This course is intended to provide "Operations" training as outlined in NFPA 1670 (Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents).

PPE: If you do not have the required PPE listed below you will not be able to attend the class.
Each student must bring a dry suit, gloves, helmet, boots, eye protection, 2 lights, a USCG – approved Type III or V Personal Floatation Device, Personal Throw Rope.
