Rope Rescue- High Angle Operations Level

Prerequisites: Rope Rescue Awareness and Rope Rescue –Low Angle Operations Level (or proof of equivalent training acceptable to lead instructor.

This operations-level course is intended for emergency response personnel who will be required to respond to an incident involving high angle rope rescue operations, such as rescue from elevated structures or below-grade locations.  The course also forms the foundation for the “Rope Rescue – Technician Level” program.  The course will combine some classroom work with intense “hands-on” practical exercises.  Subjects to be covered include a review of safety, rope care and maintenance, knots, advanced rigging skills, anchors, patient packaging and litter tending, mechanical advantage systems, hauling systems in the high angle environment, lowering systems in the high angle environment, and belay systems, and lowering systems.  This course is intended to meet and exceed “High Angle Operations-Level” training as outlined in NFPA 1670 (Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents).
