This course is designed to teach emergency response personnel basic techniques and operations for lifting and moving heavy objects during rescue operations.  Personnel will learn how to use basic mechanical advantage tools to move heavy objects in scenarios that are designed to challenge the students.  Team building exercises are an integral portion of this program.  High and low pressure air bag operations will be covered extensively.  Basic principles of heavy rigging and the use of cranes and wreckers during rescue operations will be reviewed as well.  This course is designed to help achieve “Operations” and / or “Technician” level training in the various rescue disciplines outlined in NFPA 1670 (Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents).  The material within this course would also be of tremendous value to personnel who participate in firefighter rapid intervention (FAST / RIT) operations.
