This program is intended for any emergency response personnel who may respond to an incident where rope rescue systems might be employed. This entry-level program, based upon the requirements of NFPA 1670 (Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents), will provide the student with a basic understanding of how rope-based rescue systems can provide access to elevated and below grade locations. The student will gain a basic understanding of proper incident size-up, resource identification, safety issues, applications of rope-based systems, and an introduction to rope rescue equipment and terminology. This course also forms the required foundation for Operations and Technician-level training in rope rescue.
